Search the Revere residents directory with the name or address you already have, then match it to the kind of record that can answer the question. A parcel search can connect an owner to property. A local voter request can confirm registered presence. Older directory volumes and newspapers can help place a household in time. Revere, Massachusetts keeps those pieces with different custodians, so a careful search compares more than one source and treats each result as a lead to verify.

Finding Revere Residents Carefully

There is no master list of Revere residents. The most useful starting point depends on the fact in hand. An address works best in the Revere GIS or assessor system. A name with a property connection can move from the assessor to a Suffolk Registry deed. A historic name may be stronger in a State Library directory or the digitized Revere Journal. A name-only court result needs the correct department, division, and location before it can mean much.

Each source answers a narrower question. A parcel card can show an ownership connection and perhaps a mailing address, but it is not a census of everyone at the property. A municipal voter record can show registered presence, while confidential registrations are protected. A deed records parties to a transaction, not an occupancy claim. Comparing these different records is the safest way to build a useful Revere resident trail.

  1. Start with Revere GIS when you have an address, owner name, or parcel ID. Record the legal address and parcel identifier.
  2. Check the owner in the Suffolk Registry of Deeds and keep the deed’s book, page, or document number with the date.
  3. For registered-voter information, contact the Revere Election Department rather than looking for a statewide public list.
  4. For an older household, consult the State Library directory inventory, the Revere Public Library, and the Revere Journal scan archive.
  5. When the needed record is not online, make a narrow written request to the custodian and preserve the response with the search notes.

Revere Resident Records Counters

Revere’s resident records are split among city, county, and state offices. The assessor and GIS tools are the first stop for a property clue. The Suffolk Registry keeps land instruments. The City Clerk holds municipal vital records, business certificates, licenses, and the public-records route for City Hall departments. The Election Department handles local voter records. A court docket begins online in MassCourts, but the filed court’s clerk or registry holds the official case file.

Revere GIS for Resident Addresses

The Revere GIS documentation describes three useful entries: street address, owner name, and parcel ID. Select a result, then open the assessment view and the Owner, Assessment, Sales, and Links panels. The parcel ID is a strong bridge when a postal form of the address fails. The documented example format is 15-255A-1. For a named street, map selection and export can organize parcels without turning a map result into a claim about every person inside a dwelling.

The City’s GIS overview also points to voting, neighborhood, flood, MBTA, and service layers. Those layers explain where a parcel sits. They do not replace a record custodian or establish a person’s residence.

The Revere Assessors entry page is the city’s official doorway to its assessing information and GIS services.

Note: A mailing address in a property record can differ from the property’s legal address and does not, by itself, prove current residence.

Revere Voter Records Stay Local

Massachusetts treats the municipal voter file and statewide file differently. Revere-specific public voter information is requested from the Election Department. The Secretary of the Commonwealth explains that the statewide voter list is not a public record and is limited to statewide campaigns and political parties. Local public fields generally include name, address, party or enrollment, date of birth, active or inactive status, and voter ID. Phone, email, confidential-voter data, minor records, and certain other fields are withheld.

That distinction matters when a resident search reaches a dead end. A person may be absent because they are not registered locally, have moved, are protected by confidentiality rules, or do not match the searched name. It does not prove anything broader. State access guidance explains the categories before a request is made.

The Revere Election Department page provides the local contact route and election information.

That local route matters because a Revere request is not the same thing as access to the nonpublic statewide list.

A local request can also cover public participation history and registration changes, while ballot choices are not disclosed. Ask for only the field or period needed, and expect production charges when a request requires work.

Current Revere Resident Directories

Current directory-like sources have different coverage. The property systems are strongest for owners and parcels. The local election route is limited to registered voters and public fields. The Registry identifies parties to recorded land instruments. MassCourts can return public case information, subject to court access rules. None is a complete residents directory, and none should be stretched beyond its recorded purpose.

When the question is about one named person rather than a street or a historical household, the Revere resident lookup route compares those source types without treating a single hit as identity proof.

Official files and commercial compilations answer different questions. A comparison makes the limits plain:

Suffolk Deeds Behind Revere Addresses

The Suffolk Registry is especially useful once a Revere parcel has an owner name or legal description. Its recorded-land name index and images begin at 1973, identified as Book 8595. The 1970 through 1972 material is being verified and re-indexed. That online line is not the same as an absence of earlier deeds: the Registry offers an Unindexed Property Search for book images back to 1800, beginning with Book 194, and advises in-person work for historical or genealogical research.

Search a recent owner as grantee, record the seller, then search that seller as an earlier grantee. Use book and page, instrument number, town, and legal description to separate similar names. Old instruments may omit a usable street address. In that situation, a plan reference or legal description is a better bridge than repeatedly trying address wording.

Parcel
A municipal unit of property used by the assessor and GIS.
Index
A finding list that points to a record, not necessarily the complete document itself.
Grantor and grantee
The party conveying an interest and the party receiving it in a recorded instrument.
Criss-cross directory
An address-arranged directory. No complete Revere run was confirmed in the local research.

Note: Registry searching, viewing, printing, and downloading were listed as free when inspected, while counter research or copies can involve separate office practices.

Revere Residents in Court and Vital Records

MassCourts allows public case searching by name, case type, case number, or ticket and citation number after its entry steps. A result can show party, event, docket, and disposition information. Choose the appropriate court department and location because Revere matters may lead to Chelsea District Court, Suffolk Superior Court, Probate and Family Court, or another forum. The filing clerk holds the official file, and juvenile, sealed, expunged, confidential, and some family material can be restricted.

The MassCourts public-search entry is the official starting point for the court layer.

Use a court result as a prompt to check the proper filing clerk, not as a substitute for the official case file.

For birth, death, and marriage events, the Revere City Clerk has local records dating to the late 1800s, while the Massachusetts Registry of Vital Records and Statistics is the statewide route. RVRS does not maintain a specific public online vital-record index. Eligibility controls current certified copies. Birth and marriage records older than 90 years and death records older than 50 years fall outside the ordinary restricted period, and on-site genealogical research provides another channel.

These are corroborating sources. A person with the same name in a docket or vital-record pathway must still be matched through dates, middle names, an address context, and the custodian’s access rules.

Revere Names in Business Records

A Revere City Clerk business certificate can connect a person or entity with an assumed business name and address. For broader corroboration, the Massachusetts Corporations Division accepts entity name, individual name, identification number, or filing number, while the Commonwealth license search accepts licensing entity, license type, license number, name fields, business name, city, state, and ZIP. These records identify a filing or credential relationship. They are not a current-residence list and should be verified with the named office or board.

The Commonwealth license search shows the documented search controls for this supplemental path.

Board and system transitions can affect results, so confirm a returned license with the licensing board rather than relying on an older database alone.

Revere Resident Records Can Be Hidden

Some gaps are intentional. Massachusetts has an Address Confidentiality Program for qualifying survivors and certain protected-healthcare professionals. Confidential voter registration, court impoundment, protected addresses, juvenile records, sealed matters, and restricted vital information also limit what a public search can reveal. A missing result may mean the record is protected, never filed, held elsewhere, or unavailable in the searched index.

The state’s ACP information explains the substitute-address program. For a public-record request, Massachusetts Public Records Law, M.G.L. c. 66, § 10, permits redactions under the exemptions in M.G.L. c. 4, § 7(26). A narrowly written request gives the Records Access Officer a clearer way to identify what can be released.

Historical Revere Resident Directories

The Massachusetts State Library inventory identifies selected Revere city-directory volumes from 1876 through 1940 and voting lists from 1918 through 1990. The 1932 voting-list entry is index-only. The Revere Public Library genealogy desk links Ancestry Library Edition and HeritageQuest and can help locate yearbooks, local newspapers, telephone books, and other historical material. A directory entry can place a household, address, occupation, or business at a particular time, but it does not prove current occupancy.

Search North Chelsea as well as Revere for nineteenth-century records. The city was incorporated as North Chelsea in 1846, renamed Revere in 1871, and made a city in 1914. The digitized Revere Journal adds obituaries, marriage announcements, real-estate notices, business openings, and civic notices. Read the original image because OCR often mistakes names.

For a full year-by-year collections discussion and entry-reading method, use the Revere city directory section. Keep a log of each spelling, street form, issue date, and page image while tracing a family.

North Chelsea Changes Revere Searches

Revere’s earlier name is more than a history detail. A nineteenth-century newspaper item, directory volume, map, or deed can use North Chelsea or a Chelsea-area description. Search both names, then compare the street, parcel description, and date before joining records. Revere Beach opened in 1896, and the city’s coastal growth means that neighborhood terms can help locate a newspaper or map reference without substituting for a municipal address.

Broadway and Shirley Avenue are useful local terms in newspaper and business searches. Beachmont, Library, and Riverside are also GIS neighborhood labels. They help narrow a research path, but a ZIP label or neighborhood name alone never establishes city residence.

Revere Records Requests at City Hall

Online search is only one access channel. Revere’s City Clerk public-records page routes requests to Records Access Officers by department. Written requests are preferred under Massachusetts Public Records Law. Ask for the specific record, date range, address, or case number instead of a broad name search. The office can redact exempt material and may charge allowable production fees after an estimate.

The city’s public-records page identifies the municipal request route.

Revere residents directory public records request information

Use that routing information to send a request to the keeper of the record instead of relying on a general citywide inquiry.

Other fallback routes are equally important: the Suffolk Registry counter for old land research, the Revere Election Department for municipal voter information, the Revere Public Library reference desk for local history, RVRS by mail or in person for eligible vital records, and the filing court clerk for a court record. This chain prevents a failed portal search from becoming the end of the research.
